Father’s Day is this Sunday and if you haven’t thought about what to get for the ‘ol man, I’ve got your back. But we know right, and I think you know what I’m going to say. I’m going to tell you to cook for him.
And please don’t think I’m saying this because I’m a dad, and I want the same for me, though it wouldn’t hurt. But does he really need another tie…probably not. New boxers…nope. A book on losing weight...don’t you dare. He wants, and needs – wait make that deserves a great meal. And June is a month where you can and should definitely be making him something outside.
“But Sam, you might say, “I have an outside but nothing to cook on.” To which I would say you can fix that. I realize it’s just a few days away and that’s not time to build out your backyard, but don’t let that stop you. They make small hibachis for around 20 bucks that’ll handle up to 6 burgers, or a couple racks of ribs, or a couple steaks or 6 ears of corn or whatever. It doesn’t take much - it just takes something.
So take the time to do something nice for the guy who did a lot for you. And as I always say on mother’s or father’s day, if you don’t have someone left to cook for – go find someone. Because just like you might not have someone, there’s for sure someone out there who doesn’t have anyone either.
