Creamy Bacon & Pea Pasta

Creamy Bacon & Pea Pasta

Serves 4-6


  • ¾ pound penne pasta
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, diced small
  • ½ yellow onion, diced small
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup half & half
  • 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan, plus extra for serving
  • 1 cup peas, frozen


  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the pasta cook according to package directions
  2. Note: you’re going to add the peas to the cooking pasta when there’s one minute left of cooking
  3. Put bacon in a large pan over medium heat, and cook until about ½ done, 3-4 minutes
  4. Add the onion and continue cooking until the bacon is done and the onion has softened and is beginning to color’
  5. Put in the butter & red pepper flakes – stir until the butter has melted
  6. Add the half & half, and let simmer for a couple minutes to thicken, then stir in the Parmesan
  7. Remember to add the peas if you haven’t
  8. Drain the pasta and peas, and add to the pan, mixing well to coat everything – add a little pasta water if you want it thinner
  9. Plate and serve with extra Parmesan on top
