Gnocchi Pizza Bowl

Here's the thing - this can be a gnocchi pizza bowl for 2 or 4. One 12 ounce dough ball can make 2 bowls, or 4 bowls. But regardless, the process is the same

Serve 3-4

Ingredients

  • One 12 inch ball pizza dough
  • 2 ounces bacon, finely chopped
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 cups pasata (tomato puree)
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • Kosher salt & coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup shredded parmesan, plus extra for serving
  • 16 ounces gnocchi
  • Italian seasoning for garnish

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 500, and boil a large pot of water
  2. Cut dough bal into 2 or 4 pieces, and roll into a circle - approximately 7" circles for 2 balls, or 4-5" for 4
  3. Turn oven proof bowls upside down, grease them then stretch the dough over the bowl - bake approximately 10 minutes or until beginning tobrown on the outside
  4. While they bake, cook bacon in a large pan until about halfway done, then add the onion and cook until translucent and stir in the garlic
  5. When fragrant add the tomato puree, vodka, salt & pepper, red pepper flakes, and heavy cream - stir well and let simmer a couple. minutes
  6. Drop the gnocchi into the boiling water, and when they float, stir them into the sauce making sure they're well covered
  7. Serve by putting the gnocchi in the pizzas bowls and adding extra cheese and Italian herbs
