I don’t have a video for this recipe.
If I had a photo, I would most certainly use it. That is... unless the photo I have sucks. For now, you'll just have to picture a big heaping helping of
Rhode Island Hot Wieners
...in your mind.

Rhode Island Hot Wieners

Who knew RI was a fricking delicious hot dog capital? Thank you to 'rolandroberge' for the recipe - it's a damn good one.

Makes 8 hot wieners

  • 1/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • Kosher salt & coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns, split and warmed
  • Mustard & diced onion as toppings

  1. In a large skillet, heat butter over medium heat, add onion and cook until softened, 3-4 minutes
  2. Stir in garlic, and when fragrant (after 30-45 seconds) add the Worcestershire, chili powder, cumin, mustard , cinnamon & allspice - mix well to combine
  3. Add beef, and cook breaking up as you go until no longer pink, about 5 minutes
  4. Add salt and pepper to your liking, then stir in the water, bring to a boil then reduce to a low simmer and cook uncovered about 30 minutes
  5. Cook dogs in a large skillet over medium/high about 5 minutes
  6. While they heat, warm buns until soft & fluffy
  7. Serve dogs in buns with meat sauce and toppings as desired
