I don’t have a video for this recipe.
If I had a photo, I would most certainly use it. That is... unless the photo I have sucks. For now, you'll just have to picture a big heaping helping of
Spicy Meatball Pizza

Spicy Meatball Pizza

Spicy Meatball Pizza

The super tender & delicious meatballs, spicy red sauce and dots of fabulously rich ricotta makes this one damn fine pizza. This will make enough meatballs for 2 pizzas

Makes enough for two 12 inch pizzas

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound hot Italian sausage
  • 1/4 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese, plus extra for the top
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons garlic paste, or 4-5 cloves minced
  • 1 egg
  • Kosher salt & pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup spicy tomato pesto - found it at my local supermarket, or from Amazon here
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste, or 1 large clove minced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Pizza

  • 1/2 cup ricotta
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste, or 1 large clove minced
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Pizza dough, recipe here
  • 6 slices provolone

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400
  2. Combine all meatball ingredients in a large bowl, mix well to combine, shape into approximately 24 - 1.5 inch balls and put on a parchment lined baking sheet
  3. Bake 15-20 minutes, or until 160 degrees, then remove and let cool - turn oven up to 500 if possible
  4. Put sauce ingredients in a small pot over medium, mixing well to combine and let simmer a couple minutes, set aside
  5. Put the ricotta, parsley, red pepper flakes, garlic & olive in a bowl, and mix to combine
  6. Stretch out dough, top with sauce, the provolone, meatballs (I squished them flat a bit) add dollops of ricotta in between and finally a sprinkling of a little more Parm
  7. Bake 10 - 12 minutes, or until beautifully browned and bubbly
  8. Remove and slice
