I don’t have a video for this recipe.
If I had a photo, I would most certainly use it. That is... unless the photo I have sucks. For now, you'll just have to picture a big heaping helping of

Upside Down Apple Turnovers

Makes 6

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed if frozen
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, cored and sliced thinly
  • Approximately 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ¼ -1/3 cup sliced almonds
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400
  2. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper, and cut one sheet of puff pastry into 6 rectangles
  3. Imagine the rectangles laid out on the sheet pan, and drizzle maple syrup onto those rectangles a little smaller than the puff pastry sheets will be
  4. Then add the almonds, brown sugar and finally the apples overlapping on each
  5. Cover each with a rectangle of puff pastry, and gently press down on the apples, also pressing down on the edges
  6. Brush each top with the beaten egg, and bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown
  7. Let cool a minute before flipping over and serving with a dusting of powdered sugar
