A simple Alfredo becomes even better with the addition of the Italian sausages and onions and peppers. Thanks to viewer redcryptoknight for the recipe.
Serves 4-6
Ingredients
One pound penne pasta
1 package of 5 Italian sausages
Neutral oil
1 yellow onion, cut into strips
1 red pepper, sliced
1 yellow pepper, sliced
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups shredded Parmesan cheese
Kosher salt and coarse ground black pepper
Chopped parsley to garnish
Directions
Grill sausages until done (about 160 degrees) and be sure they get a good char on them
Heat a large skillet over high, add a tablespoon of oil and cook the onion and peppers until just beginning to soften, 3-4 minutes then remove
Boil the pasta
In the pan the veggies were in, melt the butter with the garlic, and when fragrant add the cream, let simmer for a minute or 2, then add the Parmesan
Stir until the cheese is fully incorporated and sauce is beginning to thicken
Slice the sausages into rounds and add to the sauce with the veggies, then season to taste with salt & pepper
Mix well to combine, and serve garnished with parsley
